Choice-4, cancellation and retention rules
KEA has set the following options for candidates who want to leave their allotted seat. The window for these options closed at 12 noon on October 5.
- No penalty: Candidates allotted seats through both MCC and KEA who want to join the MCC round 3 seat can select Choice-4.
- Rs 10,000 penalty: Candidates who joined a KEA round 1 or 2 seat but want the MCC round 3 seat, or who want a seat from another state's round 3 or do not want the KEA round 3 seat, can cancel by paying the penalty.
- Retaining the KEA seat: Candidates who joined an MCC round 1 or 2 college, got an MCC round 3 seat and also hold a KEA round 3 seat can keep the KEA seat. They had to email keauthority-ka@nic.in with the subject "Confirmation of My KEA Seat", mentioning CET number, name and rank, by the same deadline.
Candidates who exit the KEA process through these options will not be eligible for subsequent rounds.
What Happens Next In Karnataka Round 3
KEA will re-run the round 3 allotment after candidates exercise Choice-4 or cancel their seats, so that vacated seats go to eligible candidates. The re-run will use the options already entered, and candidates cannot change them.
After the re-run, the provisional results will be published, and candidates may be considered for upgradation to higher-preference seats, subject to availability. Once these results are out, Choice-4 and cancellation will no longer be available, and KEA will then publish the final round 3 results.
Candidates who surrender a seat after the final round 3 result, but before the last date for entering stray vacancy round options, must pay Rs 1,10,000 for MBBS or Rs 60,000 for BDS. They will also be barred from counselling for the next three years.
