Free JEE, NEET Coaching Now Available Across 155 Model Schools
The initiative is designed to help government-school students prepare for two of India's major entrance examinations.
BSEB's entrance coaching programme began on a smaller scale. Residential coaching was already being offered at Patna Collegiate School in Dariyapur and Bankipore Girls Higher Secondary School in Golghar. Free non-residential coaching has also been operating at nine divisional headquarters since the 2024-26 academic session.
The programme was later extended through evening coaching at 10 Patna model schools. The latest phase brings another 145 schools into the network.
The result is a much wider Bihar government free coaching for JEE and NEET programme for senior-secondary students.
How Will JEE and NEET Coaching Be Delivered?
Students at the selected schools will receive subject-wise video lessons prepared by expert teachers in accordance with the JEE and NEET syllabi.
The lessons will be delivered using the digital infrastructure available in schools, including:
- Smart televisions
- Smart boards
- Subject-wise recorded lessons
- Content developed by specialist teachers
- Digital study resources
BSEB Chairman Thiyagarajan SM has also said that a modern e-Studio facility is planned at the board headquarters. This will allow live classes to be delivered to participating schools in the future.
The BSEB online coaching for JEE and NEET therefore combines school-based smart classroom infrastructure with centrally prepared teaching material.
Vidya Saathi App to Support Students Beyond Coaching Classes
BSEB is simultaneously expanding another digital education initiative.
Students in Classes 9 to 12 at 700 model schools are being connected to the Vidya Saathi app, an interactive learning platform intended to help students clear doubts and understand subject concepts with teacher support.
Students will also be able to access PDF study materials for different subjects.
Under the interactive system, students who raise questions will be able to see the teacher through video. The teacher will not see the student. The service is being provided free of cost.
The app broadens the state's digital learning programme beyond students specifically preparing for JEE and NEET.
Why Bihar Is Expanding Free Entrance Coaching
JEE and NEET preparation often requires sustained study outside normal classroom hours. By using existing schools, digital lessons and specialist teachers, BSEB is attempting to make structured entrance preparation available to a larger group of government-school students.
The free JEE coaching in Bihar and free NEET coaching in Bihar programmes are particularly aimed at Classes 11 and 12, when students begin focused preparation for engineering and medical entrance examinations.
The next major development will be the proposed e-Studio and live-class facility. Once operational, it is expected to make real-time teaching available across participating schools rather than relying only on recorded subject videos.
