NEET PG Counselling 2026: No First-Year Fee for Float Candidates on NBEMS Seats

• Freeze: A candidate who accepts the allotted NBEMS seat pays the first-year annual course fee to the NBEMS-accredited hospital where the seat was allotted.
• Float: A candidate who opts for upgradation pays no first-year fee while awaiting upgradation.

Hospitals have been told not to collect the fee from float candidates. A float candidate pays directly to the institute where the seat is finally frozen. NBEMS has said it will not intervene in the counselling process conducted by MCC.

1. Candidates who accept a seat without opting for upgradation must join within the reporting window MCC sets for that round. No extension will be allowed.
2. Round 1 reporting runs from October 26 to November 2, 2026, as per MCC’s tentative schedule on mcc.nic.in. The Round 2 result is due on November 14.
3. The allotted hospital must update each candidate’s reporting and joining status on the Intra-MCC portal. If it does not, the seat is treated as vacant and carried forward to the next round.
4. In-service doctors who need time to get relieved from their employer must still report, complete document verification and pay the first-year fee while seeking an extension. The extension is not automatic and is capped at 90 days from the date of seat allotment.
5. For an upgraded candidate, NBEMS training starts from the date of joining the upgraded seat. The NBEMS Online Portal for Joining and Registration (OPJR) will stay inactive until all rounds of NEET PG Counselling 2026 are over. NBEMS will publish a separate notice on it.

Under the NBEMS notice of November 19, 2024, the fee was paid to NBEMS before joining. The 2026 notice moves it to the hospital.
