NEET 2027 Will Be Held in CBT Mode?
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has since informed the Supreme Court that the exam will be conducted in CBT mode from the 2027 session, and NTA Director General has said CBT is the future of examinations. A panel is working on the wider exam reform plan.
Is NEET 2027 CBT Mode confirmed?
NEET UG is set to move to CBT mode from the 2027 examination cycle, while the detailed exam pattern and implementation guidelines are yet to be announced by NTA. On the question of Is NEET 2027 CBT mode confirmed, the Education Ministry has announced the switch and the NTA has placed it before the Supreme Court. The answer to Is it confirmed that NEET will be CBT is therefore yes for the 2027 cycle.
What is awaited is the NEET 2027 CBT mode official notice, which will come through the NTA information bulletin. It will carry the exam date, application schedule, pattern and candidate instructions, and will be published on the official portals neet.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in.
Aspirants asking about NEET CBT or OMR 2026 should note that the 2026 exam and its re-exam followed the OMR format, while NEET CBT mode 2027 begins with the next cycle.
Will NEET 2027 be in shifts?
More than 22 lakh candidates appear for NEET UG every year, and the NTA chief has indicated that a CBT exam may need around 20 shifts spread over several days. On Will NEET 2027 be in shifts, multiple shifts look likely, but the final structure has not been notified.
If different shifts are used, a normalisation process is expected to adjust scores for variations in difficulty. No formula has been announced yet. No change in the syllabus has been announced either, as the shift affects only the mode of the exam.
NEET UG CBT Mode Eligibility And Test Series
On NEET UG CBT Mode Eligibility, the move changes how the exam is delivered, and no change in eligibility criteria has been announced so far. Candidates should confirm the criteria in the NTA information bulletin once it is released.
Aspirants can start preparing for the new format with a NEET 2027 CBT mode test series, which offers full-length mock tests on a computer screen. A few habits are worth building early:
- Read long Physics, Chemistry and Biology questions on screen.
- Practise navigating between questions and reviewing marked answers.
- Build speed and accuracy under timed conditions.
- Continue NCERT-based study, since the syllabus has not changed.
Candidates should rely only on announcements from the NTA for the final pattern, shifts and dates.
